Overview

For this semester-long project at the University of Sydney, our team partnered with the Centre for AI, Trust and Governance (CAITG) to explore how a general large AI model could be adapted for use within the Australian government. We focused on one of Australia's biggest public challenges: rising healthcare demand and increasing emergency department wait times.

The result was EverHealth, an AI-powered healthcare platform that supports patients with chronic diseases while generating anonymized insights to help government agencies make smarter healthcare decisions.

The Challenge

Australia's healthcare system is facing increasing pressure. Despite higher public healthcare spending, hospital demand and emergency department wait times continue to rise. The presentation highlights an 11% increase in wait times, with 44% of patients waiting more than four hours in the emergency department, demonstrating the need for better preventive care and smarter resource allocation.

Our challenge was to design an AI-driven solution that could:

Improve preventive healthcare

Reduce unnecessary hospital visits

Support patients with chronic illnesses

Generate actionable insights for government decision-makers

  1. My Role

For this project, I served as the Lead Designer, responsible for shaping the product's visual identity and user experience.

Designing the EverHealth logo in Adobe Illustrator

Creating the brand identity and visual design system

Designing high-fidelity mobile interfaces in Figma

Creating UI assets and reusable design components

Establishing the application's overall visual aesthetic

Working closely with a multidisciplinary team allowed me to balance branding, usability, and healthcare accessibility while designing a cohesive AI product from concept to prototype.

  1. Research Discovery

We began by researching Australia's healthcare system, government initiatives, and preventive healthcare strategies. Our findings showed that healthcare spending alone was not keeping pace with growing demand, highlighting an opportunity for AI to support earlier intervention instead of relying primarily on reactive treatment.


Because our industry partner was CAITG, we also considered how a large AI model could operate responsibly within a government environment, including governance, technical feasibility, and institutional adoption.

  1. Outcomes and Takeaways

At the conclusion of the project, our team delivered a 15-minute presentation to our industry partner, CAITG at the University of Sydney, pitching EverHealth as a scalable AI solution for Australia's healthcare system. As Lead Designer, I presented the product's branding, interface design, and user experience, explaining how our design addressed both patient needs and government objectives.


One of the biggest challenges was designing for two very different audiences:

Individual patients managing chronic illnesses

Government organizations seeking population-level healthcare
